Personalized Umbrella Using Cricut Vinyl

Spring is here, and with it comes the promise of April showers! But just because the weather is a little dreary doesn't mean your accessories have to be. This month, we’re embellishing a clear bubble umbrella with Cricut vinyl decals! This easy-to-follow project will turn your umbrella into a statement piece that’s as stylish as it is functional. So grab your umbrella, your Cricut, and let’s get creative to make those April showers a whole lot more fun!

Materials:

• Cricut Permanent Vinyl
• Cricut Transfer Tape
• Cricut Tool Set
• Clear Bubble Umbrella

Directions:

Open Cricut Design Space and start a new project. Create your cut design, making sure that it's sized correctly for your umbrella. I'm using some fun imagery - including Rainbow With Heart (#M144644A4) and Clouds (#M36499DE0) - from my Cricut Access subscription.

When you’re happy with your design, click "Make It" and select your material settings based on the type of vinyl you’re using. The software will guide you through every step.

Using your Cricut Weeder Tool, carefully weed out the excess vinyl from your design. The Weeder Tool is ideal for reaching little corners and narrow spaces, giving you a crisp and clean design ready to be applied to your umbrella. Be patient with this step to achieve a perfect finish!

Once your vinyl design is fully weeded, it's time to transfer it to your umbrella using Cricut Transfer Tape. Begin by cutting a piece of transfer tape slightly larger than your design. Carefully place the transfer tape over your vinyl design, ensuring it covers the entire graphic evenly. Press down gently, using your fingers to help the tape adhere to the vinyl.

Next, take your Cricut Scraper Tool and firmly go over the transfer tape, using smooth, even strokes. This helps to ensure that the vinyl sticks to the tape and is ready for a smooth transfer. The Scraper Tool is perfect for applying just the right amount of pressure to avoid bubbles or wrinkles in the vinyl.

Once the design is securely attached to the transfer tape, slowly peel the tape away from the backing paper. The vinyl should lift cleanly off the backing and stay attached to the transfer tape. Now you’re ready to place your design on your umbrella!

With a little Cricut vinyl and your own creative touch, you can totally transform a simple clear bubble umbrella into something uniquely yours.
