Make It Monday: You Rock Card Inspiration.
Hi everyone. Happy Monday! I thought I would kick off the week with a card I made this weekend. I made this bright and fun ‘You Rock’ card for my 8-year-old nephew Alex for his first communion this weekend. Alex is all boy and I thought this card would be perfect for him! This card would be good for graduations, birthdays, & so much more!
I do apologize, I do not have a full tutorial for this card, but hopefully you can use some of the fun images and ideas as inspiration.
Growing up in a house full of girls, girly colors and things come much easier for me, so making masculine crafts is always a challenge. I chose a more ‘boyish’ color palette with oranges, greens and blues.
Here was the original inspiration for my card. I saw this lovely card by JJ Bolton {Handmade Cards} and loved the repetitive arrows and how they focused on the stamp. Although my card turned out completely different, the idea was the same.
Rather than use an arrow stamp, I cut these arrows out by hand from a piece of patterned paper I had in my stash. I popped up one of the arrows to add some dimension.
I didn’t want to waste any of my paper so I used my blue circle cut out to add to the card. I also added some white gel stitching around the card and the blue circle to add some focus.
To make the “kraft” colored stars stand out a bit more I brushed them with some white and green ink.
Well, there you have it! On the inside of the card I wrote the following:
“Jesus rocks …and so do you! Happy first communion Alex!”
Hope you loved the card and have a fabulous week!
