The holiday season is not just about the presents under the tree or the delicious aroma of gingerbread cookies wafting through the air. It's also a time to reflect on cherished memories and the warmth of past celebrations. What better way to honor those memories than by creating a beautiful paper stars garland from old Christmas cards using your Cricut machine? This delightful DIY project not only adds a personalized touch to your festive decor but also allows you to repurpose the heartfelt greetings from seasons past.

Materials:

Cricut Holographic Vinyl, Gold Sampler - Permanent (6 ct)

Directions:

Step 1: Gather Your Old Christmas Cards

Go through your collection of old Christmas cards, carefully selecting those with vibrant designs, heartfelt messages, or sentimental value. If those cards have been tucked away in a drawer, this project is an excellent opportunity to give them a new lease on life.

Step 2: Cut Out The Stars

Create your own cut design or go directly to this project in Cricut Design Space. I added simple star shapes to my canvas and sized them about 1.5 inches across.

Make the project, cutting one star from a Christmas card and one star from your favorite "sparkly" vinyl for each star in the garland.

Step 3: Assemble

Cut a 5-6 feet length of twine for your garland. Sandwich twine between one paper star and one adhesive foil star to secure them along the twine.

Space the pairs of stars about 4-6 inches apart along the length of your string. You can arrange the stars in a random order (like I did) or create a pattern, depending on your preference. If you'd like, embellish the garland with glitter, markers, or any other decorations you have on hand. This step allows you to customize the garland further and make it uniquely yours.

As you hang your DIY paper stars garland made from old Christmas cards, take a moment to reminisce about the joy and love that each card represents. This craft not only breathes new life into forgotten cards but also serves as a meaningful reminder of the people and moments that have made your holidays special. Embrace the spirit of repurposing and infuse your home with the warmth of cherished memories this festive season.
