6 Cricut Smart Material Projects for Maker 3 & Explore 3
Have you ever worked with Smart Materials? Do you know what they are? Smart Materials are made to work with Cricut die-cutting machines with no need to use a mat. You just load the Smart Vinyl, Smart Iron-On or Smart Paper into the machine, and it pulls it through and cuts it. Not only is this faster, but you can cut large projects, up to 12 feet long, all at once. The Cricut Joy has always used Smart materials, but now you can use them with the new Explore 3 and the new Maker 3 as well.
I have gathered six projects here that were all made using Smart Materials with the new Cricut Explore 3 or Cricut Maker 3. Perhaps you will find your next project or be inspired to come up with one of your own. These Smart Materials are a game changer. Now there is a whole new avenue of crafting possibilities to explore!
HOW TO MAKE A WELCOME SIGN WITH CRICUT EXPLORE 3
What a cute sign. You could put one of these anywhere inside your house or outside. This one was done vertically, which I love, but you could also do one horizontally, depending on your needs. How simple, too. Just grab a piece of wood, finish it, and apply the Vinyl or even Iron-On. Did you know you can apply Iron-On to wood? That still amazes me.
DOUBLE-SIDED TABLE RUNNER WITH CRICUT SMART VINYL
This is such a great idea! Having two sides to a table runner allows you to use it for two different occasions or seasons. And being able to cut the designs all at once makes it even better. No trying to space things evenly as you place them onto the fabric. You will have already taken care of that in Design Space.
BIG GROUP WATER BOTTLES USING CRICUT SMART VINYL
How great to be able to do a big project with one cut without using a mat. Your project doesn't have to include a long design to make it convenient. This design was small, but cutting it out 15 times used the entire width of the Smart Vinyl almost 4 times. There is no need to cut the Vinyl to size ahead of time. Just load it in the Cricut and cut off the extra once the cutting is completed.
SMALL BUSINESS BAGS USING CRICUT SMART STICKER CARDSTOCK
Making your own stickers has to be one of the coolest things you can do. Who doesn't like stickers? They are so easy to apply, and making your own can save you lots of money. It wouldn't cost much to purchase some simple bags, and then just apply your handmade business logo stickers to them. This way you can spend more time crafting products to put in the bags when they sell!
HOW TO USE SMART PAPER STICKER CARSTOCK WITH CRICUT MAKER 3
Here is a beautiful mandala you can create using Smart Paper Sticker Cardstock and the new Cricut Maker 3 or the new Explore 3. It looks complicated but is actually quite simple. You can watch the video for more detailed instructions. Three different weeding options are shown, so you can choose the best method for you. I love how this project turned out. I would like to make one of these for myself.
HOW TO MAKE A CUSTOM PILLOWCASE WITH SMART IRON-ON AND CRICUT EXPLORE 3
How would you like to have a pillow with each of your family member's names on it? That's what was done with this project, and it is adorable. Using Smart Iron-On makes it even quicker, although you could also make it using regular Iron-On and a mat, if you do not have one of the new machines. You could switch this up by using a different design, if you prefer. It's so great that you can cut longer designs at one time now.
Looking at all these projects makes me want to get one of the new machines and start using Smart Materials, too. I think I need to add this to my wish list. How about you?
